The Source for Freedom and Self-Reliant Information[1]
Thomas Jefferson defined rightful liberty as “unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others—I do not add ‘within the limits of the law,’ because law is often but the tyrant’s will, and always so when it violates the right of an individual.”
Our Republic at Risk – Members of Congress Violating Oath
The Constitution of the United States is not a suggestion—it is a binding contract between the government and the governed. Article IV, Section 4 guarantees every state a Republican Form of Government. This is not a vague promise. It is a structural safeguard against tyranny, centralization, and ideological extremism.
Yet today, we are witnessing a troubling trend: elected officials and candidates openly embracing socialism—a system fundamentally at odds with the republican principles enshrined in our founding documents.
Historical Foundations of Republicanism
Roswell Hart, a 19th-century Congressman, defined a republican government, among other things, is “where ‘no person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law’.” This vision is rooted in the writings of the Founders:
James Madison warned that “the accumulation of all powers...in the same hands...may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.”
Thomas Jefferson believed that “to take from one, because it is thought his own industry and that of his fathers has acquired too much...is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association—the guarantee to everyone the free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it.”
Socialism, by its nature, concentrates power in the State or Government, redistributes wealth by force, and undermines individual liberty. It is not merely a different policy—it is a different philosophy of governance antithetical to our Constitutional Republic.
Socialist Mayoral Candidates and Congressional Endorsements
Three prominent socialist candidates are currently running for mayor:
Zohran Mamdani in New York City, advocating fare-free transit, rent freezes, and city-owned grocery stores.
Flo Cofer in Sacramento, backed by the Democratic Socialists of America.
Omar Fateh in Minneapolis, proposing a $20 minimum wage, tuition-free college, police reform amounting to the defunding of the police, rent controls & expansion of public housing, and designating Minneapolis a Sanctuary City, thereby blocking cooperation with I.C.E. & federal agents who are enforcing illegal alien laws.
These candidates are endorsed by sitting members of Congress, including:
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
Sen. Bernie Sanders
Sen. Elizabeth Warren
Rep. Jerry Nadler
Rep. Nydia Velázquez
These endorsements are not benign. They represent a coordinated ideological shift away from constitutional republicanism toward centralized, collectivist governance. Such endorsements violate their oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution.
The Oath and the Constitution
Every member of Congress swears an oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States.” That includes defending the republican form of government guaranteed to every state.
To support candidates or policies that seek to dismantle that form—whether through economic centralization, suppression of property rights, or erosion of individual liberty—is arguably a violation of that oath.
As we stated in our March 1, 2023, blog, Members of Congress Commit Treason, who voted against resolutions condemning socialism (such as H.CON. RES. 9), may constitute seditious conspiracy under 18 U.S. Code § 2384, especially while they continue to support and propose socialist policies. Even though the legal threshold for treason is high, the moral and constitutional breach is completely clear. To maintain our Constitutional Republic and respect for individual freedom and private property rights, something must be done!
Should Socialist Candidates Be Allowed to Run?
The First Amendment protects speech—even radical speech. But running for office is not a right—it is a privilege contingent upon upholding the Constitution.
If a candidate openly declares their intent to implement policies that violate the Constitution’s guarantee of a republican form of government, they should be deemed ineligible to hold office. Just as one cannot swear an oath to uphold the Constitution while simultaneously advocating its dismantlement.
This is not censorship—it is constitutional enforcement.
A Call to Action
We must demand that candidates and lawmakers reaffirm their commitment to the Constitution—not just in word, but in their actions. The republic is not self-sustaining. It requires vigilance, courage, and accountability.
Let us remember the words of Benjamin Franklin, who, when asked what kind of government had been created, replied: “A republic—if you can keep it.”
It’s time we keep it! So, what do we do?
The Democratic Party, elected federal, state, and local officials, along with many members of the mainstream media, are conspiring to subvert the U.S. Constitution, while encouraging riots, assault & battery against federal agents, and destruction of property. The DOJ under Attorney General Pam Bondi, may want to consider using the conspiracy statutes (e.g., 18 U.S.C. § 2383, §2384 and §2385) against some of these people.
These conspiracy statutes have been used in cases involving domestic extremist groups, plots to disrupt federal institutions, and coordinated efforts to undermine lawful government processes. Sounds exactly like what is happening today!
It’s time that those who hate our great country and purposely attempt to undermine our Constitutional Republic, suffer serious consequences for their transgressions.
